Stylized Experiments (Inktober 2024)
In 2024, I attempted the "Inktober" challenge, with my own cg twist! Inktober is typically a month long challenge where artists create ink drawings for daily prompts, but I decided to try and create procedural animations in Houdini instead!
My biggest goals were to explore unique styles and novel techniques in each animation. Artistically, I was invested in pushing myself creatively and improving my ability to hit different looks. On the technical side, I wanted to expand my knowledge of different techniques so I can continually improve my pipeline and not be reliant on the same bag of tricks.
I ended up creating the following 31 animations over the course of about 4 months. With the exception of the occasional paper or canvas background texture, I created everything in these animations from scratch. I'm very proud of the final collection, and I learned so much about stylization, proceduralism, and the entire cg pipeline throughout the process.Â
The carousels to the right contains gifs of all 31 animations, and the full resolution videos for all of them are below.Â
I'm also currently working on creating breakdowns for each animation, and I'll add links to the breakdowns below as I complete them.Â
